The fascinating play of light and shadow in the landscape has always attracted various artists. Giovanni Segantini himself chose Maloja as his final resting place and as a source of inspiration and subject for many of his works. Giovanni Giacometti, the father of Alberto Giacometti, also worked and painted in Maloja, and his artistic spirit still inspires exhibitions, lectures and concerts today. The pass village on the border of the authentic Bergell valley is popular with hikers, art lovers and families. The offer for the latter in particular is well catered for: at the Schweizerhaus hotel, you can book a pizza-making course for children, at the adventure park 'Capel - la via die contrabbandieri' you can experience adventures in a wonderful landscape, the 'Kukuk' playground is suitable for young and old, and you can even swim in the Cavloccio lake, 1907 metres above sea level.
