One of its most famous sites is the Valley of the Temples, an archaeological site that is home to some of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world, such as the Temple of Concord, the Temple of Jupiter and the Temple of Hercules. These temples testify to the ancient grandeur of Akragas, the ancient city that stood there, founded in the 6th century BC. Besides the temples, Agrigento is also a place rich in art, culture and traditions. The historical centre of the city is picturesque, with narrow cobbled streets, Baroque churches and charming squares. The view of the sea is spectacular, and the city also offers typical Sicilian cuisine, with fresh fish dishes, desserts such as cassata and the traditional 'arancine'. Agrigento is also famous for its Regional Archaeological Museum, where you can admire artefacts that tell the long history of the city, from prehistoric times to Roman times. Another point of interest is the Giardino della Kolymbethra, an ancient garden within the Valley of the Temples that, thanks to a recovery project, has become an oasis of greenery and tranquillity. In general, Agrigento is a perfect blend of ancient history and natural beauty, a place where the past and the present intertwine in a fascinating way. IT084001C2CXSHPXKQ
